Lucide, a dynamic Belgian family company headquartered in Antwerp, develops decorative and functional lighting for indoor and outdoor use.
Empowered by knowledge and guided by expertise in the lighting sector Ward Mertens, the current CEO, founded his own company in 1992 on Belgian soil. In the then conservative industry, Ward already had strong foresight, his dream being to build up a high quality and differentiating range to position Lucide in the established lighting landscape. This vision laid the foundations for the current range, a prominent collection for fashion conscious consumers at a competitive price.
In the 25 years that followed, Lucide has evolved substantially. New markets emerged, resulting in further continuous growth of export to countries inside and outside of Europe as well as the successful development of e-commerce. This requires a global strategic approach, which is being set out by the CEO’s two sons, Wim and Niek Mertens, who constitute the 2nd generation to continue the dynamism of the company.
Nowadays, more than 75 passionate employees are part of Team Lucide, to ensure day to day customer service, enabling Lucide to achieve further international growth.
An elaborate network of selected partners and dealers, both in classical retail and wholesale as well as international online suppliers, ensures the worldwide presence of Lucide products today in more than 70 countries.
