Mirror light and IP value
Before you buy a mirror light for your bathroom, it is important to first consider the area in which you will be using it. The area determines which IP value your mirror light should have. Bathrooms can be divided into three zones, and depending on the zone where you want to install the mirror light, you need a suitable IP value. This is determined mainly by where you want to place the light relative to water sources, such as taps, showers and baths.
IP21, IP44 and IP54
If the light never touches water, Lucide mirror lights with an IP21 value are often sufficient. This means the light is waterproof for dripping water. But if you install the light above the tap, or next to or above a shower of bath, it needs to have an IP44 value. These lights are waterproof for splashing water. Lastly, there are also IP54 lights, which are waterproof for splashing water as well as dust-proof.

Directionality and other options
In addition to design, colour and material, you can also choose whether or not your mirror lights should be directional. A tiltable mirror light is handy when your household consists of various people of different heights, for example. But there is way more to choose from at Lucide when it comes to mirror lighting for your bathroom and toilet. For example, choose whether you want to be able to dim the light, or if you prefer a diffuse lighting effect or a downlight.
